"Media reports today that the Government is planning to shelve the CPRS to until at least 2013 are extremely concerning.
"If true, this would be economically reckless and environmentally reprehensible.
"In such a situation, the Government could not blame the Senate for the delay.
"The May CPRS legislation has been rejected twice by the Senate and is sitting waiting as a double dissolution election trigger.
"After a double dissolution election, if successful, it is highly likely the Government would be able to have its CPRS legislation passed in a joint sitting later this year.
"We are seeking clarification from Government - further comments later."
- John Connor, CEO The Climate Institute
