The Climate Institute has received a grant from the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency to produce an independent assessment of the impacts of the carbon price on the cost of living. The grant was publicly announced on the Department’s website in late August.
The Climate Institute is working with Australia’s premier scientific and research organisation, CSIRO, and leading technical professional consultancy, AECOM, to prepare independent analysis.
CHOICE and the Australian Council of Social Service are also partners in the project, providing practical and independent information about household costs under a carbon price.
This work aims to give the public a neutral, useful set of tools to make up their own mind about reducing carbon pollution and the ability to make informed choices about their own household.
The results of this independent study are due to be released next month.
