To have any chance of reducing rising greenhouse pollution levels, all new electricity generation will need to come from clean energy sources like wind, solar and geothermal sources. As the PM’s Task Group on Emissions Trading noted in February 2007, “[By 2050] ... more than two-thirds of existing electricity generation will need to be substantially upgraded or replaced and new capacity added.
