The Climate Institute aims to make a leading contribution the current climate change policy debate in Australia, through evidence-based research

We work with a range of partners, including government agencies, academic institutions, businesses, industry groups and non-government organisations.

Major areas of work include:

o        Climate change impacts in Australia and abroad

o        Emissions trading policy design

o        The economics of climate change policies

o        Managing the social costs of climate change policies

o        Energy efficiency policy design

o        International climate change policy

 The Climate Institute is also part of the The Global Climate Network, a collaboration of independent research and policy organisations in countries key to tackling climate change globally.

 
  • Our latest reports and briefing papers

    This includes both research reports written by the Climate Institute as well as commissioned reports on climate change issues. Climate Institute briefing papers are brief summary documents which outline various climate change issues

  • Our latest submissions

    This includes our submissions to various governmental climate change inquiries, and industrial ombudsmans which relate to climate change issues.

  •  Pollute-o-meter

    Created in 2007, prior to the federal election, the Pollute-o-meter is the first ever quantitative analytical tool created to assess the impact of the climate policies announced by the major parties. 

  • Election 07 Campaign

    During the 2007 federal election campaign, The Climate Institute ran a campaign to raise public awareness of how the political parties were working towards climate change solutions.
