Societal Leadership Focus

The economy is not the only piece of the puzzle. The climate challenge requires an all of society response. The Climate Institutes leverages partnerships with a variety of sectors of society as it seeks to provide leadership in this space. Ultimately Australian society needs to act together, hand in hand with bipartisan support for action on climate and businesses that is responding to the challenge.

We work to bring communities, businesses and government together on the issue of climate change, aiming for the same goals and a cleaner skies future. A key role for us is raising awareness about the risks and opportunities associated with climate change and to surface stories of action and resilience. We regularly ‘take the pulse of the nation’ on climate change via public polling.

The Climate Institute is also an active actor in the media, being a frequent commentator on Australian climate action domestically and in international press. It is increasingly using interactive tools and social media, as well as the work of its Creative Fellow, professional photographer Michael Hall, to tell the human story behind climate change.

Key to success is leveraging our partnerships, whether with business or at the community level. The Climate Institute has been a member of campaigns and networks such as the Southern Cross Climate Coalition, the Open Climate Network, and the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change. It also works closely with its Climate Partners and other progressive businesses keen to act on climate.

See the Alliances + Networks page for a full list of partnerships.
